Wombats SA is dedicated to the conservation of wombats and the preservation of Australia’s unique flora and fauna.

Our mission is to protect these vital species and their habitats through sustainable practices and community engagement.

We manage several conservation reserves, ensuring that these natural environments thrive for years to come.

Aims & Objective

The principal purpose of Wombats SA / the Society is the protection and enhancement of the natural environment.

History

Wombats SA was originally the Natural History Society of South Australia, formed in 1960 by 4 concerned conservationists.

Glen Taylor Obituary

With much sadness we paid final farewells to Glen Taylor OAM. Glen, was conservation volunteer in the NHSSA for 52 years!

Membership

We entirely depend on the support & efforts of all members to effectively pursue the aims & objectives of Wombats SA.

The Management Committee manages & coordinates our activities. 10 elected members. 

Working Groups

We welcome & encourage all members & non-members to help & share their skills with us. Not all work is done in the field.

Our Conservation Efforts

Reserve Management

We oversee the maintenance and ecological health of five conservation reserves, ensuring they remain safe havens for wombats and other native species.

Our team works tirelessly to restore natural habitats, promoting biodiversity and supporting the recovery of endangered species.

Community Education

We offer educational programs to raise awareness about the importance of conservation and how individuals can contribute to preserving our environment.

Conducting vital research and monitoring wildlife populations to inform our conservation strategies and ensure effective management of our reserves.
