Annual General Meeting 2018

Guest Speaker

    • Michael Swinbourne – “Burrow occupancy and wombat behaviour at Moorunde”
      Mike Swinbourne is a PhD student at the University of Adelaide, where he is undertaking research to map the species-wide distribution of southern hairy-nosed wombats, and to work out how the population is changing over time in response to issues like land-use and climate change. He also recently conducted a project using Ground Penetrating Radar to map the underground extent of wombat warrens in different soil type. Mike came into wildlife research late in life, after a long career in the Royal Australian Air Force, where he served as a crew-member on P-3C Orion maritime patrol aircraft.

      – Mike spoke at our AGM in 2016 on “Ground penetrating radar as a non-invasive tool to map southern hairy-nosed wombat warrens”. We’re looking forward to hearing about his new work.

      – Mike is married to Alyce Swinbourne, who also undertakes research into wombats, and presented her research on the wombat oestrus cycle to the NHSSA at the AGM in 2017 – “The variability in reproductive cycles and breeding behaviour in captive female southern hairy-nosed wombats”.

Management Committee Nominations

Nominations for the ten positions of the Management Committee are open to all financial members. Once elected, members of the Management Committee will elect the Executive positions (President, Vice-president, Secretary and Treasurer) at their first meeting following the Annual General Meeting. To be nominated, complete a Nomination Form (below) and received by the Secretary by the 21st of April 2018.
