<video:title>Close up video of a wild Southern Hairy-nosed Wombat in SA</video:title>
<video:description>Amazing phone video of a wild southern hairy-nosed #wombat at #Moorunde #Wildlife Reserve near Blanchetown SA. Normally wary, wombats disappear down their burrow at the slightest disturbance, but this one scratched, fed and frolicked to within a metre before running off! 🙂
The spinning and propping actions are typical of a relaxed young wombat, and a joy to see!
Thanks heaps to Wombats SA Committee member Dr Gary Taylor for capturing this video and making it available.</video:description>

<video:title>A History of Moorunde Wildlife Reserve – An Audio Visual Presentation by Glen Taylor</video:title>
<video:description>Moorunde Wildlife Reserve is truly a magical place where the land has been set aside to make sure wombats and other native fauna and flora have a place to just live. Moorunde celebrated its 50th Anniversary in 2018 and it continues to be a hidden treasure in the mallee of the southern Murraylands.

This Audio Visual Presentation was created by Glen Taylor OAM in the 1970s with some additions to update it to 2005. The presentation was originally in the form of a 35mm slide audio visual, using a dual projection system and tape recorder. DVD Production by Trevor Taylor, 2009. The original slides and audio track have now been converted to digital form.

         <video:title>Stories from a Wombat Scratching Post</video:title>
<video:description>In August 2020, four motion sensor cameras were installed on Moorunde Wildlife Reserve with the aim of documenting the habits and condition of the wombats which live in chosen warrens. Out of interest, a spare camera was placed on a very well used scratching log near one of the warrens. This is a ‘highlight’ reel of some of the footage we collected on one September evening. The illumination is by infra-red emitters for night-time vision. The wombat seemed very interested in the camera, which is interesting.</video:description>

         <video:title>Southern Hairy-nosed Wombat Health Guide</video:title>
<video:description>How useful are condition scores for Southern Hairy-nosed Wombats? A brief and introductory look at their validity and reliability when being applied by different viewers.

Researcher Matt Gaughwin has been the driving force behind a way to distinguish a wombat’s health from its appearance. See how Matt distinguishes between the good the okay and the bad and, when completed, sharing a method to help others in the field assess wombat health with a consistent guide.

This is a presentation Matt gave to the Wombats SA AGM (via Zoom) on the 11th of May 2022 in Adelaide, South Australia. Since his initial project, outlined in his talk above, he has been working with Wombats SA to further refine / define a wombat condition guide that can be used by people sighting wombats in the wild, whether they are researchers or rescuers or members of the public.

Our huge thanks to Matt for his work and also for speaking at our AGM.

If you would like further information about the Wombat Condition Guide, please send an email to info@wombatssa.org.au.</video:description>

<video:title>Untangling the Web: The Australian Online Trade of Terrestrial Invertebrates - Charlie Lassaline</video:title>
<video:description>Charlie Lassaline's presentation given at the 2023 AGM for Wombats SA - 27 April 2023.

Charlie (a.k.a. Charlotte Lassaline) is a conservation ecologist currently working on her PhD at the University of Adelaide. In 2021 she completed her honours titled "Untangling the Web: Dynamics of the Australian Online Terrestrial Invertebrate Trade", for which she was awarded the Alwin Clements Prize in Natural History. Prior to this project, the trade of invertebrates in Australia had never been researched. Here, she presents the findings from her honours project, detailing the vast range of terrestrial invertebrates traded in Australia and the threats this poses to the conservation of native species and Australia's biosecurity. Charlie also discusses her recently commenced PhD at the University of Adelaide, expanding on her honours research by also assessing the international trade of Native Australian invertebrates.

Invertebrates constitute 80% of all described species and play major roles in ecosystem processes. Yet, their conservation often receives minimal attention, compared to more ‘charismatic’ vertebrate species. It is crucial to research and monitor the trade of terrestrial invertebrates in Australia, to ensure our native populations are not being negatively affected by unsustainable wild harvesting and the introduction and spread of invasive species.</video:description>
